Design Documentation¶
Purpose¶
Actionable implementation contracts and design assets that sit one level below the architecture specifications in docs/architecture/ — the "how do I know when this package is actually done" layer, as distinct from the "what must this package do and why" layer.
Scope¶
Implementation checklists derived from each docs/architecture/*_Design_Specification.md, plus (as the project grows) standalone diagram assets — UML, sequence diagrams, ER diagrams, C4 diagrams, decision trees — that are too detailed or too implementation-specific to embed inline in an architecture specification. Does not restate architectural rationale; every checklist item links back to the specification section it operationalizes.
Responsibilities¶
- Turn each design specification's §36 (Definition of Done) and §37 (Package Acceptance Criteria) into a literal, checkable pull-request gate.
- Stay in lockstep with its governing specification — if the specification changes, the checklist must be updated in the same change set.
- Host future standalone diagram assets that supplement (not duplicate) the Mermaid diagrams already embedded in each design specification.

Dependencies¶
None (documentation only). Each checklist references its governing specification in docs/architecture/.
Future Work¶
Add a checklist for every future package's design specification as it is written. Add standalone UML/sequence/ER/C4/decision-tree diagram assets here as the project's diagramming needs grow beyond what fits legibly inline in a specification document.
